When you’re advocating for your child, trust matters. Here’s what families have shared about their experience working together through the FBA process:
The Process
A behavior assessment shouldn’t feel overwhelming. Here’s how we work together—step by step—to understand what’s already helping your child and what kind of support will help them thrive.
Understand Your Concerns
Understand Your Concerns
Understand Your Concerns
The process begins with listening. After selecting your assessor, we’ll start with a collaborative conversation about your child’s strengths, current challenges, and what you’re hoping to learn or improve through this assessment.

Input is gathered from your child’s teacher or team to learn what supports are already in place, what’s been effective, and where they need more support. School records and recent assessments are also reviewed to better understand the full picture.

To gain an authentic understanding of your child’s experience, two school observations are completed, totaling 6 hours. These visits allow for meaningful data collection on classroom engagement, communication, and any behaviors that may be impacting learning. Additional observation time can be added if needed.

After observations, initial recommendations are discussed with the family to ensure alignment before drafting the report. The completed plan is then reviewed together, with a focus on what’s best for the child. Final recommendations are shared with the school team during the IEP meeting.

FAQs
What is an IEE?
An IEE, or Independent Educational Evaluation, is an assessment conducted by a qualified expert who is not employed by the school district. Its purpose is to offer an outside perspective on your child’s strengths, needs, and current supports. The evaluator shares a comprehensive report with the IEP team and presents their findings during the IEP meeting. While I serve as an independent assessor for the FBA, my role is not to take sides. My goal is to support the entire team with a fresh, informed perspective—highlighting what’s already working and offering new ideas to help your child thrive. I promise to always recommend what I truly believe is best for your child and involve you in that decision-making.
